Consider this your affiliate marketing in a nutshell.
The first thing you really have to remember, and I can't stress this enough, is that even though affiliate marketing is not a difficult online business that doesn't mean that you won't need to learn some new skills...you will. It also doesn't mean that you won't have to invest any time in your business. One of the most common mistakes people make is that they don't treat their business as a business. Instead they do a little work here and a little work there and then they wonder why they're not rich after a month or two. Don't fall into that trap. Work your business like a business with intensity and consistency and you can be very rich.
1. The first step is to understand that to become an affiliate you need to sign up with a company that offers an affiliate program. It's free to sign up and you will receive a commission whenever someone buys a product on your website. Most companies will give you a replicated website that will be identical to all the other affiliate websites, the only difference will be your special code in the URL. That will identify you and whenever someone makes a purchase from your site you'll get a commission.
2. Next you need to know a little bit about internet marketing or IM. This is the process where you drive traffic, visitors, to your website. There are many ways you can do this, some of them are even free. Generally the free methods will take a little longer, but since they are free you don't have to worry about making any mistakes while you are learning how to do them (they are very easy, but you might still make small mistakes).
The paid methods for driving traffic will usually get traffic more quickly but only after you've mastered the techniques which can take quite a bit of time and since you have to pay while you are learning it will also take quite a bit of money. You will definitely have more money going out than coming in at the beginning when you use this method.
3. Convert as many of your visitors into paying customers as you can. There are many elements to this, everything from copywriting to SEO to using an autoresponder. Don't worry if none of this makes sense, there are plenty of places online where you can learn these skills.
For right now though, you will want to use an autoresponder service. This is a fully automated system that will allow you to pre-program a series of emails. You can add as many emails as you want and you can choose how often they go out. When someone opts into your list (this just means they sign up and give you permission to send them emails) the whole emails series will be sent out automatically.
For example, let's say that you have 10 emails loaded into your autoresponder and that you've got it set up to send out one email every day for 10 days. When someone signs up they will immediately receive the first email. Then every day they will receive another one until they've gotten all the way through the series.
When you write your emails make sure that you include valuable information. Don't make your emails just one sales pitch after another. Instead help them by giving them information that they can use, related to your website topic of course.
I've barely scratched the surface with this affiliate marketing in a nutshell report. Just remember that affiliate marketing is easy, don't let the jargon throw you off. It won't take you any time to learn all you need to know to be making a lot of money. If you can read and write you can be a very successful affiliate marketer.

Many business offer affiliate programs and most of them will even give you your own affiliate website.  This is a replicated website which means that all affiliate websites will look exactly the same.  The only difference is in the URL people will use to get to your page.  That URL will include a code that is specific to you so that when someone makes a purchase from your site, you receive the commission.

This is a great business because once you learn how to do it, you can make virtually unlimited amounts of money and much of your work can be done on autopilot.

One word of caution, while it's completely true that you can make a ton of money with little effort that will only happen after you've spent the time to build your site and get a steady stream of traffic.  So at first, you'll have to work very hard.  Then once your site is established it won't take much effort at all to keep it going.

Don't ever let someone convince you that you'll be making six figures in a few months especially if you've never done this before.  Affiliate marketing isn't a hard business to learn, but you'll still need to take the time to learn it.

The biggest challenge is getting a steady stream of hungry customers to your website.  There are many methods you can use to get customers, many of them are completely free and easy to learn, while others can be quite expensive and have a pretty steep learning curve.

Article marketing is a great free way of generating a lot of traffic.  This method simply involves you writing, or hiring someone to write for you, articles that will provide valuable information on your product or service.  I don't mean something that is one long sales pitch, I mean something that contains truly helpful information.  

When you submit your article to an article directory it will be published and when someone does a search using the keywords you used for your article, they will read your article, click on your website link at the bottom of the article and  visit your site.  

Another way of generating traffic is with Pay Per Click or PPC.  While equally effective as article marketing this method has a steep learning curve and since it's not free you'll be spending a lot of money while you're learning.  With PPC you submit ads to a search engine and target a keyword specific to your website.  When someone clicks on your ad you have to pay.  

The amount you'll pay will vary on the popularity of the keywords  you've chosen as well as a quality score and other variables.  If it sounds a little complicated that's because it is.  I wouldn't recommend anyone try PPC until they have the money to take a course and learn how to do it properly.  Otherwise you'll spend yourself right out of business.

However it would be much more natural and of course inexpensive if you were to 'bite the bullet' and force yourself to do something that is maybe out of your comfort zone - and now you have the motivation to do so if you really want to have a successful Internet business and you believe it is in fact necessary to write.

To make it real simple, writing is related to reading; it is related to talking; in fact it is related to thinking. More than likely you can do all 3 of these things - now the trick is to get it all into your fingers and start typing! Just sit down and start pounding away to say what you are thinking, what you have read, what it means to you.

There is a technique used for decision making and planning that also works really well to help you start writing!  It is referred to as 'brainstorming'. Brainstorming is where you don't worry about crossing your t's and dotting your i's - you just let your thoughts flow freely and start listing them.  In the case of decision making it might be two-columns with Pros and Cons. For planning it might be just a 'to do list' in no particular order.  You can sort everything out and organize it later but the point is just to get it all down where you can see it.

So if you are really having trouble writing know that once you just get started trying that it gets easier.  There really is such a thing as 'writer's block' even for people who are comfortable with writing.  However, it is more a question of having ideas to write about and with business online you are fortunate that there is so much information available that you can use to create an idea. One of the main ways is to do keyword research - find out the relevant terms used in your niche - and then go to a free keyword research tool and look them up - that will produce other related words and phrases. List them out and build around them.

You can actually use your keywords as an idea list.  If you have to pretend you are talking to someone, or writing someone a letter, fine - just start writing. Describe the keyword - what does it mean in general - what does it mean specifically to your business.  What are some of the ideas you have with regard to that term; what information (facts) do you have; what have you read or heard people say about it.  Write it all down - remember don't worry about what it sounds like or looks like just get it down.

Then maybe get away from it and let it all settle down in your head.  Go back to what you wrote and start cleaning it up - Create sentences, check your spelling and grammar, and try to organize it into paragraphs. Do a little more research and put the term in a search engine query to get some more information and ideas that relate to this term.

You know as they say, 'where there is a will, there is a way' and this will work a lot better for you than 'I can't' or 'I don't know how' or 'I'm new'. You have to try! Find a way to  "Just DO it".

There is no other way to do business other than purposefully, with organization and persistence. Persistence doesn't just mean keep it up as often as you can.  It also doesn't just mean even working consistently no matter what. It also majorly involves having patience!  

It's ironic that sometimes the people who really do work so hard when they first start out, do expect direct, almost instant results; but believe it or not it is not at all realistic. Developing a business is a process that involves time.  People are accustomed to seeing direct compensation as part of a workforce where they are paid for performance + time. Of course in the end the results ($) will always be the purpose of business; but it is a process that takes time when you are building your own business from the ground up - it is very different from having a job. But that should be ok, because it is FOR YOU - what time and effort you invest is for YOUR benefit not somebody else's company.

No matter how hard some people work at their own brand new business, they haven't got any patience with the process. It seems that the harder they work the less patience they have.  Patience is a very necessary component of Persistence! Developing an Internet marketing and sales business is not mechanical, where everything is logical and fits together and when your work is done, it works and you can see it (and 'take it to the bank')!

It is sad to see the new ones who are trying too hard and just going around in circles; and then they start spinning their wheels. They get burned out, they get broke, they get disillusioned, skeptical and discouraged. Because they don't have patience, faith and focus,instead they get in a big rush; and of course in part this is because money is really coming out of their pockets and none is returning YET. It's just human nature to want to see results!

It is just the fact that there is no true 'magic sauce' for instant wealth without work. All of the people that you hear about that are making big dollars on the Internet are W-O-R-K-I-N-G and they have 'paid their dues'; ... and if they are persistent and patient, eventually they will turn the corner to finally get to the money! (they can "pass go AND collect dollars").  ;) This is when you see the real pictures of sports cars and true testimonials from the ones that have made it come true - and can relax a little and enjoy their gains.  

THEN they can say 'it's easy' - I am rocking on the beach, cruising in my car, loving life and raking in the money while I sleep! It's a bird, it's a plane, it's 'Autopilot'! And it really can be that way for you too - for anyone that is willing to learn, follow directions and work -- and then "wash, rinse and repeat" for as long as it takes. If they PERSIST in moving in a straight line (FOCUSED) and keep pushing in the right direction, they will get to 'Easy Street' - it's just up the road a piece!

Starting a New Business: Is it True that You Can't Fail Unless You Quit?

If you think about this saying 'you can't fail unless you quit', you will see that it is very true.  A person who quits has obviously given up trying to reach their goal. They will make no more effort on their own behalf and are thereby accepting defeat.  When they really quit they will feel temporarily relieved because they don't need to worry about it anymore.  This may be a good step to seeing their way clear to start over.

A person who won't quit, no matter what, will keep trying to succeed.  They will either learn new strategies to promote their business, or may consult with others for advice and direction.  Some will need to completely 'regroup' before they start over.  Many people may take a break to get their bearings and make a decision as to whether they will continue to try or will actually quit.  Sometimes that is all that is necessary to turn it around, for example if someone has possibly gotten too stressed out in the actual process of trying to start a new business. 

They more than likely have other situations in their life that were stressful to start out with and that may seem or have actually been exacerbated by the time, effort and expense that they have been putting into the new activities involved in starting a business. Maybe something has to go and it can't be the day job or the kids or the spouse, and there is no other way to release the pressure they feel than to just stop trying to do anything extra like starting a business.  This is unfortunate, but is quite understandable.

Hopefully taking a breather and maybe doing some additional planning will create the atmosphere necessary to squeeze something else in and they will be able to continue on to reach their goal of starting a business from home.  This would be the case if the person really had what it takes to go that extra mile to hit their target.  Purely by organizing their time a little better may do the trick so that they can somehow come up with a good block of time weekly if not daily to devote to their business.  Again, it really may be the case that they will need to completely shut down in order to see things clearly enough to realize that they can make time to do what they know they want and need to do.

In a case like this it always helps to make a list of pros and cons, and brainstorm difficulties or obstacles, giving possible solutions to each situation.  This is a good way to find out if it is possible for you to realize what your priorities really are.  You will find, if starting a business is really what you want to do, that there are plenty of things you can do without or work around in order to make it happen.  If not, then maybe just let it 'simmer' for a while on the back burner and it will come to you how there is usually a way you can find that will allow you not to give up on your dreams.

If You Think You Can Start a Successful Home Business You Probably Can

No doubt everybody has heard the children's tale 'The Little Engine That Could'. This classic story tells of a small train that works very hard and is subsequently able to pull a much larger train over a hill. Throughout the story, the train repeats the phrase "I think I can, I think I can". The little train has the right idea.  

Then in Internet Marketing lore, is the motto: "if you think you can you probably can, and if you think you can't you are probably right". So to put them together, thinking that you can and telling yourself repeatedly that you can may be a great thing to do. Easy enough to remember, 'I think I can'.  You may be confident enough to say 'I know I can' eventually. Whatever it takes, you can do it.

The point to both stories is that you have to fervently believe you can do something against all odds, and going up against all obstacles, real or perceived, and know that you will be the victor.  Now it would be nice if this was all it takes - 'mind over matter' - however that is unlikely unless you have some kind of supernatural powers.  You need to take action at the same time as you are riding on the momentum of your mantra of 'I think I can'. If you have both you have a powerful combination.

Think you can as you do things to promote your business development (that you may not understand in the beginning) - think you can when you ask yourself why you need to do it; or you wonder how to do it, and most of all when you ask  how come you don't see any results yet; you have to keep riding on that wave of power that says you think you can. If you ever saw the cartoon that goes with the book of the 'Little Engine That Could' - you will know how hard he had to work pushing and chugging and chugging ahead to pull that heavy train up that hill. You will see the analogy after a few long days at your computer when you are starting your home business. It can be like pushing uphill in a hurricane of information, until you can focus on the tasks at hand. It's not hard, but it's not easy at first, either.

There is no excuse with 'I can't' (yes you can if you try hard enough); or 'I don't know how' (then learn); or 'I'm new' (so was every Internet millionaire at the beginning). If you are really determined to do something and it is something that you can control one way or the other, then there is no doubt that you will do it. How long will it take? No crystal ball here -it depends on lots of different things, but the primary one is how hard you are willing to try; because no matter what the obstacles or 'set-backs' be it just time or effort, you will find a way to get through it if you are really serious about your business.

It may be that a lot of people have trouble realizing that although working from home is a lot more fun than a 'real' job, and we are really free to work when and how we want to, we have to remember that it has to be taken very seriously - just like a job.  True there is nobody there to infract you for being late or not completing your tasks, but YOU know and YOU need to force yourself to do what needs to be done otherwise you need a manager, you aren't one.  
Don't blame the program, service or product that you are trying to sell if it doesn't work for you.  It is also not your sponsor or mentor's fault if YOU don't work it sufficiently.  The responsibility is yours if you are going to make your business work FOR YOU. If there are any of the above that you honestly determine are not performing to your expectations, then make a change to that component or element. OWN IT.  Just remember that just like a 'real' job, the manager is the one who is considered responsible whether it goes well or not.  You being your own boss are ultimately the one who must always know definitely that YOU CAN succeed and YOU WILL.

When we talk about 'tools' we mean resources.  Resources can be anything from time to money to skills.  Starting a business online really requires most of all a willingness to learn and a strong will to succeed.

The most important skill for Internet marketing is writing.  Whether it is writing to communicate with others, blogging, or creating ads, publishing content is of major importance. It goes without saying if you have some challenges and you just really can't see ever becoming proficient at writing, then there are services that you can use for ghostwriting and copywriting that will get you through with some expense.

However it would be much more natural and of course inexpensive if you were to 'bite the bullet' and force yourself to do something that is maybe out of your comfort zone - and now you have the motivation to do so if you really want to have a successful Internet business and you believe it is in fact necessary to write.

To make it real simple, writing is related to reading; it is related to talking; in fact it is related to thinking. More than likely you can do all 3 of these things - now the trick is to get it all into your fingers and start typing! Just sit down and start pounding away to say what you are thinking, what you have read, what it means to you.

There is a technique used for decision making and planning that also works really well to help you start writing!  It is referred to as 'brainstorming'. Brainstorming is where you don't worry about crossing your t's and dotting your i's - you just let your thoughts flow freely and start listing them.  In the case of decision making it might be two-columns with Pros and Cons. For planning it might be just a 'to do list' in no particular order.  You can sort everything out and organize it later but the point is just to get it all down where you can see it.

So if you are really having trouble writing know that once you just get started trying that it gets easier.  There really is such a thing as 'writer's block' even for people who are comfortable with writing.  However, it is more a question of having ideas to write about and with business online you are fortunate that there is so much information available that you can use to create an idea. One of the main ways is to do keyword research - find out the relevant terms used in your niche - and then go to a free keyword research tool and look them up - that will produce other related words and phrases. List them out and build around them.

You can actually use your keywords as an idea list.  If you have to pretend you are talking to someone, or writing someone a letter, fine - just start writing. Describe the keyword - what does it mean in general - what does it mean specifically to your business.  What are some of the ideas you have with regard to that term; what information (facts) do you have; what have you read or heard people say about it.  Write it all down - remember don't worry about what it sounds like or looks like just get it down.

Then maybe get away from it and let it all settle down in your head.  Go back to what you wrote and start cleaning it up - Create sentences, check your spelling and grammar, and try to organize it into paragraphs. Do a little more research and put the term in a search engine query to get some more information and ideas that relate to this term.

You know as they say, 'where there is a will, there is a way' and this will work a lot better for you than 'I can't' or 'I don't know how' or 'I'm new'. You have to try! Find a way to  "Just DO it".
